Their Facebook page says it’s “Not your ordinary flea market!” and they’re not kidding.
This was our first visit to a punk rock flea…since the 80’s….and it was a blast!
The market was in the historic Hamburg, PA field house which is owned and operated by the Union Fire Company No.1 of Hamburg. The 20,000 square foot field house was built in the early 1950’s, it has a high curved ceiling with large windows which provide natural light. There’s plenty of parking, restrooms, food and beverages were available as well as live music from 5 bands. The field house is used for lots of different events and the local roller derby club Keystone State Rollin’ Renegades are based here.
I had fun learning about the Rollin’ Renegades (co-ed roller derby) these folks had a lot of passion for their sport so I can’t wait to go watch them in action.
There was an impressive variety of goods and the vendors were really fun to chat with. It’s always inspiring to meet creative folks who are excited about what they do.
A nice variety of handmade jewelry but also neat vintage.
Harry’s Tattoo shop is probably the most original vendor I’ve ever come across at a flea market. Harry has a large state of the art trailer which serves as a mobile tattoo studio. This incredible set up has space for 4 tattoo artists to work at one time! If you’re looking for some ink check him out.
So many creative folks selling original artwork alongside vintage vendors, tattoo artists, indie crafters along with live music made this a really unique market.
We found a really nice selection of affordable music from the several vinyl vendors there. Came away with several nice albums that we had been looking for.
I’ll be looking for more Punk Rock Flea Markets and Indie Craft Shows to visit in the future…..I heard there is another good one in Lancaster, PA! I’ll be sure to share the info about any upcoming events I find. As always if you want to share information about places we should check out for thrifty, vintage, flea markets or indie crafts leave a comment.
Great meeting you yesterday – I’m enjoying your blog a whole lot!
Hi – thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. We had a really good time visiting the flea! Your work was really nice, I’ll look you up on Etsy.
You do a fine job of capturing the spirit of the events you cover.
Thanks! I have fun and want to spread the word about alternative shopping adventures.
