3 Mobile Apps to Find the Best Yard Sales, Thrift Shops & Flea Markets

Mobile Apps

There are a bizillion mobile apps that you can download to help you do everything from counting the number of steps you walk, record the food you eat and my favorite – help you find yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets, no matter where you are! Pretty handy, especially if you find yourself on vacation or a business trip with and urge to hunt for some vintage goods, but haven’t a clue where to go. Today, I’m sharing a few apps that I’ve been using lately.

Flea Markets:

Developer: Zach Levengood
Devices: iPhone, iPad
Last Update: Feb 05, 2015
Version: 1.8, Size: 5.0 MB

This is a new app and I’m just starting to use it, but so far I like it. I opted to purchase the PRO version which was only a 99 cent upgrade and which allows me to keep notes on favorite markets and shops. This is super hand for writing Tour de Thrift blog posts. Flea Market Finder lists over 10,000 flea markets and thrift stores in the U.S. and the list keeps growing.

Features include:

  • Select multiple destinations
  • Save notes on each location (*Pro version)
  • Save Favorite locations
  • Map out route for multiple locations (get directions)
  • Add locations that aren’t listed

Last Update:Dec 20, 2014
Version:2.0.3, Size: 7.6 MB

I’ve been using this free app for a few months and like the photos and the Friday email alerts I have set up for specific keywords (vintage, mid-century, etc) It helps me prioritize which sales I want to visit.

Features include:

  • Garage sales by map
  • Search by city
  • Browse sales on map or list view
  • Save favorite sales
  • Add your own sale
  • Print directions (website) or get directions on your phone
  • Search for items by keyword
  • Email alerts – receive daily or weekly email alerts (by keyword, distance, which days to receive emails, include estate sales and storage auctions)

*Pro membership removes ads but is a bit pricey at $4.99 month / $29.99 year / $99.99 lifetime.

This handy yard sale mapping app. makes it really easy to find yard (garage and community) sales near you, by accessing Craigslist. You can view all the sales in your area on a map or in a list. View details for each sale, get directions, even see a street view. I like the routing option which creates a route between the sales that you select.

Features include:

  • Access Craigslist yard and garage sale listings
  • View details of sales
  • Filter searches by location, day, and distance you want to travel
  • Log in with your Google+ account to sync with any iOS or Android device for advanced planning
  • Map pins display colors to match keywords you’ve used to search (i.e. vintage, toys, etc.)
  • Get directions

All of the apps I mentioned are available in the iTunes store or on Google Play and they all have websites for more information and support. When you’re choosing a mobile app be sure to check out the Customer Reviews and ratings. Check to see if the developer continues to update and support the app.

There are a few new apps I’m looking forward to trying, if I do, I’ll let you know how they work. Do you have any favorite apps you use to find thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets? Leave a comment we’d love to hear about it.
