Thoughtful Shopping-Small, Local and Vintage
It’s almost the end of November and time to think about holiday gifts. Some of you, who are on top of your shopping game, have been picking up gifts all during the year – the rest of us frantically look around in the last few weeks before the big day.
If you’ve read this blog in the past you know I’m a big supporter of shopping local, small, hand-made and vintage. I know many of us are trying to live with less, and I believe shopping thoughtfully and locally can support that.
Recently, we visited two small merchants (Obscure Relics and Bohemi Antiques.), who we met at the HBG flea, at their barn sale. We found out they open their barn for sales only a few times during the year, so made sure we went in October.
The sale is held at historic Aberdeen Mills in Middletown, PA., by two very creative women who share their artfully arranged and carefully curated wares. The prices are fair and there’s a good variety of vintage and antique items.
The mill and farm are in a beautiful setting which is fun for all ages to visit. We spotted some pretty chickens and friendly kitty’s.
Here’s a few more photo’s from our visit. We really enjoyed poking around and we came home with a few fun treasures.
This time of year is so much fun! We enjoy learning about new opportunities to shop small, local and vintage, end explore our local area. Hopefully, you can visit Aberdeen Mills for one of their sales soon – the next one is Saturday, December 2, 2017.
While your out and about here’s a few events happening in Pennsylvania where you can find original and creative gifts and support local artists and small businesses.
