Whimsy and Weirdness
As promised on the Second Wind Cabin Facebook page, I am going to be posting some photos of whimsical and weird things I come across. This house definitely fits that description.
This house, on a very nice street in Camden, Maine has quite the display of dolls in every window. I’m not sure what to make of this, but had to stop and take some photos.
I wonder how many more dolls live in that house? Obviously this collector really wants to share their collection with the rest of us. Anyway, this got me to thinking about the various types of collections we all have, and how some may seem weirder than others.
Some collections start out innocent enough, I had a collection of souvenir dolls from around the globe when I was little. Since I see these dolls at yard sales quite often (see below), I guess lots of other people had the same collection. When do collections cross the line from “isnt that cute and fun” to “wow that is really out of control and weird?”
One persons weirdness is another persons whimsy.
For more on weird collections I did a little surfing on the internet, yikes!
Web Urbanist has the 13 most weird and wonderful collections on the web, of course.
Let me know if you see any weird or whimsical collections where you are.
More later….
