Central PA Yard Sales
Last summer we spent almost every weekend exploring Maine’s thrift shops, flea markets and yard sales. Although the yard sale season in Maine, like summer, is short it’s packed full of great shopping opportunities.
This summer we have a new location to explore, central Pennsylvania. Most of the yard sales we’ve visited are in Harrisburg but we’ve also ventured out onto the “West” shore to New Cumberland, Lemoyne, Camp Hill and Enola.
Since we are new to the area we’ve been testing our a few new iPhone apps to find yard and garage sales. The one I used last weekend was just called Yard Sale and is hooked up with www.bookoo.com an online yard sale community.
I like that it maps out our route to each yard sale and is super easy to use. I’ll post a comprehensive review when I’m finished testing a few others.
Last weekend while driving to what was advertised as a “Huge” multi family yard sale, which turned out to be a bust… we hit the jackpot on 2nd Ave.! A super nice guy was having a clean out – sidewalk sale in front of the building he owns. He had some really fun stuff, and was great to chat with.
We found some cool old camera’s and a cute little round vintage table with ceramic dishes inset in the top which spins! My favorite finds were the 2 Mod copper and enamel plates from 1971 and the old billiard balls and score keeper.
