Second Street Thrift Store – It’s Worth Repeating
Two Thrifty Locations
Recently, I came across Second Street Thrift Store on Instagram, and finally had the chance to visit the two locations. Second Street Thrift Store has a location in Denver, PA and Bowmansville, PA both stores have a large well organized collection of clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods.
Purchase with a Purpose
Second Street Thrift Stores are a non-profit organization that funds 2 schools for orphaned girls and women in need, in India as well as youth programs in the areas where they are located. So your purchases will help fund some really good works. Second hand shopping not only helps others but is a great way to be green and environmentally conscious.
When I visited the 2 locations it was nice to see bright, clean and well organized spaces. It’s obvious that the folks that work at these stores take a lot of pride in creating fun and interesting displays to show off the merchandise. There was a nice variety of affordable prices and sale racks at both stores. Loved looking through the $1.00 racks!
Clothing is organized by size (thank you!) and I noticed some nice name brands (eg. Chico, Talbots, etc.), in good condition.
There was plenty of accessories to mix and match with any outfit! Purses, belts and scarves all at very affordable prices.
The clever displays make it fun to browse and shop in these stores. I got a kick out of the wood pallet being used for a shoe rack. Another plus was the very helpful, friendly staff! A special thanks to Donna, at the Bowmansville store, for spending time showing me around and giving me the background on the stores and their mission. Her dedication is evident in the time she spends decorating and organizing her store.
The Denver, PA store is located in an old log cabin type building, which makes for a great area to display furniture and home goods. The Bowmansville, PA store is located in the basement of a commercial building and also has some furniture and home goods. Both locations have clothing for men, women and children as well as accessories, toys, books, albums, and art work.
If you’re in the Denver or Bowmansville area plan a visit to one or both Second Street Thrift Stores. These shops are close the the famous Renningers Flea Market and the many other antique shops located on route 272 near and in Adamstown, PA. If you’re not from the area they also have an online shop on their website.
